Educators, Archivists, and Cultural Stewards
ICAN University, our faculty are more than instructors — they are practitioners, scholars, and cultural keepers dedicated to preserving and advancing African American history and heritage. Each brings deep expertise in community archiving, archival studies, narrative practice, and BGLAM (Black Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums), along with a passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of cultural leaders.

Founder & Chief Academic Officer
📍 Specialty: African American community archives, narrative practice, BGLAM
Dr. Keeton is a writer, art librarian, archivist, genealogy curator, and arts professional whose work blends archival theory with community‑based practice. She has curated exhibitions, designed archival projects, and developed cultural programs that center African American history and lived experiences.
Passionate about education and cultural preservation, Dr. Keeton founded ICAN University in 2025 to address the lack of African American‑centered courses, faculty, and programming in traditional higher education. Her mission is to prepare the next generation of archivists, curators, and cultural leaders to tell their communities’ stories with integrity and historical depth.
